NasuMel Nasal Ointment

NasuMel nasal ointment (15g tube) for the treatment of minor wounds and/or fissures in the nose associated with dry, damaged or inflamed nasal mucosa.

Ingredients 

Pure Honey – Provides antibacterial protection, promotes wound healing, and maintains a moist healing environment.
Arachis Oleum (Peanut Oil) – A refined oil that enhances absorption and soothes the skin. (Refined to remove allergenic proteins, making it safe for individuals with peanut allergies.)
Aqua (Water) – Used as a base ingredient to ensure a smooth consistency.
Cera Alba (Beeswax) – Creates a protective barrier over the skin while retaining moisture.
Glyceryl Oleate – A gentle emulsifier that helps mix oil and water-based ingredients, ensuring a smooth and even texture.
Rosa Oleum (Rose Oil) – Known for its soothing and mild antibacterial properties, contributing to skin comfort and repair.

Product description

NasuMel is an easy to apply nasal ointment for the treatment of superficial wounds and cracks when the nasal mucosa are dry, damaged or inflamed. NasuMel nasal ointment consists of an ointment - which soothes the nose - in combination with pure, enzyme-rich honey. The specific composition of NasuMel nasal ointment helps to protect superficial wounds against infection.

Indication

NasuMel nasal ointment can be used for the treatment of superficial wounds in the nose and in the case of dry, damaged or inflamed nasal mucosa. NasuMel nasal ointment helps to prevent crusting in the nose. NasuMel nasal ointment is suitable for all ages.

How to apply

• Unscrew the white cap from the tube.

• Turn the cap over.

• Open the tube by pressing the tip of the cap through the tube opening.

• Apply a small amount of ointment to the nose/wound

• Distribute the ointment around in the nose by gently massaging the nostrils

• Apply the ointment to both nostrils several times a day.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

There are no indications that NasuMel nasal ointment should not be used during pregnancy or while breast-feeding.

When should NasuMel nasal ointment NOT be used?

Do not use this product if the patient is known to be allergic or hypersensitive to any of the ingredients. An allergic reaction or hypersensitivity can cause redness, irritation and/or soreness of the skin or wound.

Side-effects

• The product can cause a slight stinging sensation for a few minutes after application. The stinging sensation is probably caused by the low pH value and the high osmolarity of the honey. It does not affect the effectiveness of the product.

• Please contact your doctor or the manufacturer if any unexpected side effects occur. Side effects can cause discomfort for the patient.

Precautions

• Do not use if the tube is damaged as the product may have become contaminated with bacteria which, in turn, could cause wound infection. Thanks to the antibacterial protection of honey, the risk of wound infection is considered very low.

• Always replace the cap onto the tube after use. An open tube could result in bacterial contamination and wound infection. Thanks to the antibacterial protection of honey, the risk of wound infection is considered very low.

• Avoid direct contact between the tube and the wound surface. Direct contact between the wound/skin and the (opened) tube could result in bacterial contamination and wound infection. Thanks to the antibacterial protection of honey, the risk of wound infection is considered very low.

 • Do not apply this product for more than 30 consecutive days. Treatment for more than 30 consecutive days could cause the patient discomfort such as irritation and/or soreness.

• The contents of the tube can be used for up to 3 months after opening. Longer use could reduce the effectiveness and result in contamination of the product. Thanks to the antibacterial protection of honey, the risk of wound infection is considered very low.

• Do not use the same tube to treat different patients. This could result in cross-contamination with bacteria and wound infection. Thanks to the antibacterial protection of honey, the risk of wound infection is considered very low.

• Do not use the product after the “use before” date. This could reduce the effectiveness of the product and cause discomfort for the patient.

• Do not use sharp objects to open the tube. This can lead to loosening of pieces of the closing membrane and to inconvenience when using the ointment.

Storage conditions

Store between 4 °C en 30 °C.
