AnaMel® rectal ointment (15 g tube) for superficial wounds and anal itching
Ingredients
Arachis oil, cera alba, glyceryl oleate, mel, aqua, rose oil.
Product description
AnaMel® rectal ointment is an easy to apply ointment for the treatment of superficial wounds and chapping around the anus, as caused by haemorrhoids, for example. AnaMel® rectal ointment consists of a relief-giving ointment and pure, enzyme-rich honey. This combination of ingredients gives the ointment its soothing and healing properties. AnaMel® rectal ointment also protects superficial wounds against infection. Once applied, the ointment reduces itchiness and has a slightly cooling effect.
Indication
AnaMel® rectal ointment is suitable for all ages and can be used to treat:
• Superficial wounds around the anus, whether or not infected.
• Anal fissures (chapping).
• Irritation and itchiness around the anus as a result of haemorrhoids, etc.
• Irritated skin caused, for instance, by incontinence or obesity.
How to apply
• Remove the white screw cap from the tube.
• Invert the cap.
• Pierce the tube seal with the point in the top of the cap.
• Squeeze a little ointment onto a fingertip.
• Apply the ointment by massaging it gently into the skin around, and if necessary in, the anus.
• Apply the ointment two to four times a day.
When should AnaMel® rectal ointment not be used?
Do not use this product if the patient is known to be allergic or hypersensitive to any of the ingredients. An allergic reaction or hypersensitivity can cause redness, irritation and/or soreness of the skin or wound.
Side effects
• The product may cause a slight tingling sensation for a few minutes after application, probably due to the low pH value and the high osmolarity of the honey. It does not affect the effectiveness of the product.
• Please contact your doctor or the manufacturer if any unexpected side effects occur. Side effects may cause the patient discomfort.
Precautions
• Do not use if the tube is damaged as the product could become contaminated with bacteria which, in turn, could cause wound infection. Thanks to the antibacterial protection honey offers, the risk of wound infection is considered very low.
• Always replace the cap onto the tube after use. An open tube could result in bacterial contamination and wound infection. Thanks to the antibacterial protection honey offers, the risk of wound infection is considered very low.
• Avoid direct contact between the tube and the wound surface. Direct contact between the wound/skin and the (opened) tube could result in bacterial contamination and wound infection. Thanks to the antibacterial protection honey offers, the risk of wound infection is considered very low.
• Do not apply this product for more than 30 consecutive days. Treatment for more than 30 consecutive days could cause the patient discomfort such as irritation and/or soreness.
• The contents of the tube can be used for up to 3 months after opening. Longer use could reduce the effectiveness and result in contamination of the product. Thanks to the antibacterial protection honey offers, the risk of wound infection is considered very low.
• Do not use the same tube to treat different patients. This could result in cross-contamination with bacteria and wound infection. Thanks to the antibacterial protection honey offers, the risk of wound infection is considered very low.
• Do not use the product after the expiry date. This could reduce the effectiveness of the product and cause the patient discomfort.
• Do not use sharp objects to open the tube. This could result in fragments of the sealing membrane getting into the ointment, which could cause discomfort during use.
Storage conditions
Store between 4°C and 30°C.
